Which charge controller do I need?

The fixed frame panels we would suggest having connected to their own MPPT charge controller, in particular when connected to a 12V battery bank:

415W-R - Victron 100|50 470W - Victron 150|45 475W - Victron 100|50

Install gallery

As you can see from the image gallery above many of our fixed frame panel customers have installed their panels on a "tower in a box" from Atlantic Towers. These arches come in a variety of sizes and can be adjusted to suit your sailboat.

With the fixed frame panels weighing in around 40lbs each it's important that they are well supported and secured and these arches are well built and can handle the weight. Reach out to Steven and Shelley with any questions you may have, you'll often find them at many of the boatshows in the USA. Here's a photo from Annapolis Sailboat Show 2022, the arch behind them has 4x410W SunPower fixed frame panels mounted on it - that's 1,640W (1.64kW) of solar!

Where are these available?

Sun Powered Yachts can sell Maxeon® fixed frame solar panels direct to customers planning to use them on their mobile applications (such as boat or RV). We mostly ship from Chandler, AZ but also have some Will Call locations. Visit our shop for more product info or just let us know where you are located and a few details about your planned install by completing the Enquiry Form below and we can discuss your installation further.

We still highly recommend that you consult with a local professional for the install as the panels require much more consideration & a level of expertise during the install for a number of reasons including increased panel weight (up to 47lb) and increased voltages (up to 82V). You will likely benefit from a professional installation by a company with the knowledge & experience to do so. Below are a few companies that we recommend that have completed many installs already:
