Whilst sat aboard 'Blake' in Cancun, Mexico we recently recorded an episode of the 'On The Wind' podcast with host Andy Schell. We have known Andy for many years since we used to work together as "yellowshirts" on the ARC sailing rallies. It was nice to catch up and even though he was in the UK, and us in Mexico, it felt like he was back aboard when we caught up in the Canary Islands before the crossing.
We got to chat some more about our path to boat ownership, a little different to the norm we bought a Dufour 382 (2016) through an ownership program with Dream Yacht Charter. We were able to sail for 6-8 weeks a year, for 5 years, aboard our boat (or another of a similar size worldwide) and then at the end sail away with Blake. In our time we sailed in the following destinations:
Propriano, Corsica (three times, where Blake was based)
Tortola, BVI
Göcek, Turkey
La Trinité-sur-Mer, France
Šibenik, Croatia
Raiatea, French Polynesia (twice)
La Paz, Mexico
Corfu, Greece
We also got to chat about sailing with a young family aboard and home schooling our two daughters (Iwalani, 9 and Anela, 7) and running Sun Powered Yachts whilst underway. We are certainly walking the walk with 730W of SunPower flexible solar panels up on the bimini powering our life afloat.

Have any questions about going solar then we are here to help, we have lived off grid in Hawaii for over 9 years and lived aboard our boat for 15 months so understand the systems and demands of powering your life. Start enjoying clean and quiet solar power today!
Enjoy, Katie & Lyall
